Ashley and David Eckstein share their 'Disney magic' love story in two new bestsellers
The "Lucky 22" and "Just Enough" authors open up about their relationship, careers and how Ashley was cast as Ahsoka Tano.
"Whenever we tell the story, everyone always says, 'Oh my gosh, that's Disney magic. That should be a movie.'" "Star Wars" voice actress and 2006 World Series MVP, Ashley and David Eckstein, open up about why their love story inspired her new fiction book and his memoir.
While chatting with On The Red Carpet, "Just Enough" author David weighed in about his book, "If you ever felt like you're not the biggest, the fastest, the strongest, or the most talented in whatever you're doing, at the end of the day, you can be just enough. And, it takes you on a journey of all the obstacles that I had to overcome to actually achieve my dreams, and hopefully give some inspiration to people to achieve their dreams."
What was the inspiration behind Ashley's book, "Lucky 22"? "While how we met is a chapter in David's book, I had a feeling people were going to want to know more. Whenever we tell the story, everyone always says, 'Oh my gosh, that's Disney magic. That should be a movie,'" she said.
Ashley went to their publisher, Blue Box Press, and asked to create "his and hers" editions to release on the same day. "David's is nonfiction, it's his memoir. 'Lucky 22' is inspired by our true love story, but it's about 90% true," she explained.
The couple says it was "surreal" to release "his and hers" books on the same day and a "dream" once they found out they both hit the bestsellers list.
The "Star Wars: The Clone Wars" actress also shared with On The Red Carpet her journey to voicing Ahsoka Tano. "When I was cast as Ahsoka, it was actually in 2006. The same year that David won the World Series, also we had just gotten married. It was a huge year in our lives. I actually write about in 'Lucky 22,' so there's a lot of Star Wars in 'Lucky 22.' And, how I became the voice of Ahsoka is in there."
"Dave Filoni didn't know what he wanted for Ahsoka when they first created her. In fact, they originally wanted Ahsoka to have an Icelandic accent," Ashley revealed.
