STRAWBERRY, Calif. (KGO) -- Authorities are investigating a shooting that occurred in unincorporated Marin County and left three people dead on Sunday. Sources have now confirmed with ABC7 Eyewitness News that two of the deceased are former San Francisco Police Department officers.

At the scene on Sunday, family members could be heard crying out after learning that three people were found dead in a home in the community of Strawberry, which is unincorporated Mill Valley, near Tiburon.

As to what happened, deputies responded to reports of gunshots being fired in the area just after 5 p.m. on Sunday, and a call from someone who was in that home when the shots were fired.

"Inside the home, they discovered three deceased bodies. The nature of those victims and their connection to one another are all part of our active investigations," said Miguel Almaguer of the Marin County Sheriff's Office.

The Marin County Sheriff's Office gives an update on a shooting that occurred in a Strawberry neighborhood.

Almaguer gave no specifics on the circumstances around the shooting.

Sources have confirmed to ABC7 Eyewitness News that former San Francisco Police Sergeant Kevin Mannix is the shooting suspect. Sources also say that his wife, Ann Mannix, a former San Francisco Police Department Deputy Chief, was shot and killed, along with the couple's 24-year-old daughter Katie Mannix.

Sources with intimate knowledge of what happened told ABC7's Dan Noyes that Kevin Mannix shot and killed his wife, then his daughter, before turning the gun on himself.

Property records show that the home is owned by the two former officers.

Investigators are waiting for that search warrant to go inside, and we could have updates as early as Monday morning.
