Crews battle fire near I-580 in Oakland

Fire crews battled a fire near Interstate 580 in Oakland on Sunday morning.

The fire broke out at near 34th and Wood Streets just before 8 a.m.

Thick, black smoke billowed to the air. It appeared to be a pallet on fire.

California Highway Patrol says it impacted visibility on the freeway ramp, but firefighters were able to get water on it quickly.

There is no word on any injuries.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
