NEVADA COUNTY, Calif. (KGO) -- A vegetation fire that broke out near Interstate 80 on the California-Nevada border Wednesday morning has prompted evacuation warnings, CAL FIRE says.

The Floriston Fire was first reported just after 10 a.m. near I-80 and Floriston Way, approximately nine miles northeast of Truckee, and is said to be burning at a dangerous rate of speed.

CAL FIRE said additional air and ground resources have been requested in response to the fire's rate of spread. The fire was reported at 297 acres just as of noon.

An evacuation warning is in place for the areas of NCO-E105, NCO-E106, NCO-E379, according to the Nevada County Sheriff.

Westbound traffic has been closed at the Nevada State Line on I-80, according to California High Patrol.

No injuries have been reported and the cause of the fire is still unknown.
