Two grill-related recalls to look out for before your next cookout

SAN FRANCISCO (KGO) -- The Bay Area's beautiful summer days are perfect for meals made on the grill... But two new recalls are warning consumers to look out for hidden dangers.

Conair, the parent company of Cuisinart, is recalling more than 1.7 million grill brushes and 12,000 gas grills that pose a risk of causing injury.

The grill brushes are under recall due to the possibility their metal wire bristles can become dislodged... And make their way into your food.

Loose grill brushes can pose a safety risk if ingested. So far, there have been 54 reports of detached wire bristles and three reports of consumers who swallowed the bristles and needed to seek medical treatment to remove them from their digestive tract or throat.

Ten models of brushes are under recall, including the Cuisinart Triple Bristle Grill Cleaning Brush, the Four-in-One Cleaning Brush and the Steam Clean Grill Brush. A full list can be found on the Cuisinart website or on the website for the Consumer Product Safety Commission.

Consumers who own these brushes should immediately stop using them and contact Conair for a full refund.

For the second recall, Cuisinart's Propel-Plus Four-Burner Three-in-One Gas Grill With Pizza Oven has a glass window that can possibly shatter and cut someone.

The CPSC has received 37 reports of shattered windows and one report of a fire. No injuries have been reported.

Consumers should stop using the grill and double-check on the Conair website to see if their model is affected. If so, Conair will provide instructions on how to safely remove the window... And how to provide proof for either a $500 refund or full reimbursement if included with their original proof of purchase.
