Harvey Weinstein faces sentencing in NYC sex assault case
NEW YORK CITY -- Harvey Weinstein is scheduled to be sentenced again Wednesday in Manhattan following his conviction for sexually assaulting former TV production assistant Miriam Haley in 2006.
Weinstein, 74, faces up to 25 years in prison after being convicted of a criminal sexual act involving Haley at his Manhattan apartment.
He was originally sentenced to 23 years in prison in 2020 after being convicted of sexually assaulting Haley and raping aspiring actress Jessica Mann. Four years later, New York's highest court overturned those convictions, ruling Weinstein did not receive a fair trial.
Weinstein was retried in 2025 and again convicted of a criminal sexual act involving Haley. Jurors acquitted him on a separate sexual assault charge involving former model Kaja Sokola but were unable to reach a verdict on the rape charge involving Mann.
That charge was retried earlier this year, but the jury deadlocked in May. Prosecutors later dropped the charge rather than pursue a fourth trial after Mann said she could not go through another trial.
Weinstein also faces resentencing in a separate California rape case. While his California conviction was upheld, an appeals court overturned his 16-year sentence and ordered a new sentencing hearing. He could serve that California sentence before serving any New York sentence.
Haley is expected to appear in court Wednesday morning and make a victim impact statement. Weinstein is also expected to address the court.
