Longtime Giants broadcaster Duane Kuiper announces throat cancer diagnosis
SAN FRANCISCO (KGO) -- Giants broadcaster Duane Kuiper announced he was recently diagnosed with throat cancer on Sunday ahead of the team's game against the Dodgers.
Kuiper began treatment last week and said this is unrelated to the cancer he dealt with five years ago.
He will miss broadcasts on Monday and Wednesday and says his goal is to be back on TV to call the final games with his longtime partner Mike Krukow, who is retiring after next Sunday's finale.

"I am incredibly grateful for the care I'm receiving and for the tremendous support, from my family, the Giants organization, my broadcast partners and so many others," he said in a statement posted by the team.
Kuip has been a Giants announcer for decades and played as the team's second baseman in the 80s.
