Firefighters respond to vegetation fire just outside of South San Jose

SAN JOSE, Calif. -- Forward progress has been stopped on a vegetation fire burning south of San Jose on Sunday, according to Cal Fire.

The blaze, dubbed the McKean Fire, originated off Almaden Road and Mountain Drive, in an unincorporated area just outside the San Jose city limits.

The fire burned about 10 acres as of Cal Fire's initial assessment at about 3:30 p.m. and forward progress on the blaze was halted just before 6 p.m.

Cal Fire attacked the flames with air and ground resources as the fire spread with a moderate rate of speed Sunday afternoon.
