Men's college basketball recruiting: Top 25 players regardless of class

The summer is a blur on the recruiting trail for scouts, prospects and coaches as they race to one camp after another. Now, following a combination of live scouting and film study, it's time to update the boys' player rankings for the SC Next classes of 2027, 2028 and 2029.

Florida native Cayden Daughtry was a big winner, surging into the top five of the 2027 SC Next 100 after stringing together consistent, impactful winning performances. The top of the senior group was also fortified by two reclassifications from 2028: A.J. Williams, who previously ranked No. 1 in the 2028 class, and Adan Diggs (formerly X).

All this summer movement also presents an excellent opportunity to recalibrate how the top high school players in the country stack up against each other. Here are the top 25 prospects in the country, regardless of class.

1. Beckham Black, 2027 | PG | Uncommitted

2027 SC Next 100 ranking: 1

Black is the best player in the senior class after dramatically improving over the course of a dominant year -- including averaging 8 assists and just 1 turnover for the gold medal-winning Team USA at the FIBA U17 World Cup. He also upped his 3-point shooting from 28% last year to 36% this summer, despite increased defensive attention. Black plays with a dynamic swagger, and continuing that productivity will be essential as expectations grow for the No. 1 recruit in the country.

Recruitment updates: Black is close to setting up visits to Texas, North Carolina, Arkansas, Duke, Miami, USC and Florida beginning in September.

2. Demarcus Henry, 2027 | SF | Uncommitted

2027 SC Next 100 ranking: 2

Henry has been a model of consistency, contributing to winning teams at every level. He led AZ Compass to a top-five finish, finished third in the Nike EYBL in rebounding (9.2RPG) and helped Team USA win gold at the FIBA U17 World Cup. The next step for the left-hander is improving his 3-point shooting after connecting at less than 30%.

Recruitment updates: Arkansas, Ohio State, UConn, North Carolina, Kentucky, Duke, BYU, Louisville and Kansas are all competing for visits.

3. C.J. Rosser, 2027 | PF | Uncommitted

2027 SC Next 100 ranking: 3

At nearly 6-10 with a 7-3 wingspan, Rosser has continued to find ways to impact winning beyond his perimeter shooting. He averaged 16.4 points, 7.7 rebounds and 2.4 blocks in less than 20 minutes per game while helping Team USA win gold at the FIBA U17 World Cup. Improving his inconsistent 3-point shooting, particularly his mechanics and shot selection, remains the next step.

Recruitment updates: Rosser is considering North Carolina, Miami, Louisville, NC Stateand Kentucky, with new interest from Missouriand Arkansas. He has already taken unofficial visits to North Carolina, Louisville, Kentucky, NC State and Maryland. 4. Cayden Daughtry, 2027 | PG | Uncommitted

2027 SC Next 100 ranking: 4

No player had a better summer than Daughtry, who climbed into the top-5 of the 2027 class. He won gold at the FIBA U17 World Cup. Then, in EYBL play, he averaged 28 points -- the fourth highest mark in the past two decades -- while shooting 40% from 3 and 90% from the free throw line. With his EYBL team, Florida Rebels, he won the Nike Peach Jam championship, and was named MVP. Daughtry's long-range shooting reminds us of Trae Young.

5. A.J. Williams, 2027 | SF | Uncommitted

2027 SC Next 100 ranking: 5

Williams recently reclassified up from 2028, where he was the No. 1-ranked prospect, and now faces the challenge of measuring himself against older competition. He already owns two gold medals with USA Basketball and carries a reputation as a productive two-way player and elite finisher. Continuing to prove himself against more established competition will be important as he settles into the senior class because he has all the tools to develop into a lottery pick.

Recruitment updates: Duke, North Carolina, Georgia, Kansas, Arkansas, Georgia Techand BYU are heavily in the mix.

6. Lewis Uvwo, 2027 | C | Uncommitted

2027 SC Next 100 ranking: 6

Uvwo has been one of the most impactful defensive players in the senior class this spring and summer, establishing himself as the nation's premier shot-blocker and rim protector. He consistently impacts winning through his rebounding, screening and ability to finish in the paint while embracing his role. His self-awareness, energy and team-first approach have helped separate him from his peers.

Recruitment updates: Uvwo has scheduled visits to Baylor(Aug. 27-29), Cal(Sept. 4-6), Kentucky (Sept. 11-13) and Providence(Sept. 18-20). He remains in contact with a number of other schools.

7. Yann Kamagate, 2028 | C | Uncommitted

2028 SC Next 60 ranking: 1

Kamagate moves into 2028's No. 1 spot after a productive adidas 3SSB circuit run: 10.3 rebounds and 3.9 blocks, per Synergy Sports. The 7-footer also shot better than 55% from the field while establishing himself as a dominant presence around the basket and above the rim. Improving his 52% free throw shooting is a clear next step in his development.

Recruitment updates: Kamagate is considering Duke, Kentucky, BYU,Houston,UCLAand Florida State, among other schools.

8. Colton Hiller, 2028 | SF | Uncommitted

2028 SC Next 60 ranking: 2

At just 16 years old, Hiller established himself as one of the top shooters in the 2028 class, against 17U EYBL competition. He shot 36% from 3 and ranked first among all 2028 prospects in Cerebro's 3-point efficiency (3PE) metric. His free throw shooting (60%) remains an area to monitor through his development.

Recruitment updates: Duke, North Carolina, Kentucky, Alabama, Kansas, UConn, Louisville, BYU and Michigan have already offered Hiller.

9. Adan Diggs, 2027 | SG | Uncommitted

2027 SC Next 100 ranking: 7

Diggs reclassified from 2028 earlier this year and has continued to establish himself as one of the top guards in the 2027 class. His ability to contribute as a scorer, especially in the mid-range, and as a playmaker, rebounder and defender gives him significant two-way value. The next step is becoming a more consistent perimeter shooter after making 32% of his 3-pointers in EYBL play.

Recruitment updates: Diggs has scheduled a visit with Arizona(Sept. 25-27). He is also considering visits to Arkansas, Duke, USC, Kansas, Kentucky, Houston, North Carolina and Virginia.

10. Asa Montgomery, 2027 | SF | Uncommitted

2027 SC Next 100 ranking: 8

No player made a bigger jump in the senior class than Montgomery, who climbed 20 spots after dominating EYBL play this summer. He averaged 24 points and seven rebounds at Peach Jam while impacting winning in a variety of ways. An extremely bouncy athlete, Montgomery's versatility has fueled his rise, though he'll need to cut down on his turnovers.

2028 SC Next 60 ranking: 3

Touray has emerged as a top player in the 2028 class largely because of the impact he can make on both ends -- particularly as a game-changing defender. His ability to protect the rim and defend in multiple situations separate him from his peers. His offensive game continues to expand, with continued progress as a 3-point shooter an important next step.

Recruitment updates: Touray is hearing from Kentucky, Georgia, Ole Miss, Indiana, Utah, Saint Louis, Florida State, Miami and Georgia Tech.

12. Darius Wabbington, 2027 | C | Uncommitted

2027 SC Next 100 ranking: 9

Wabbington's combination of production and versatility at 7 feet evokes shades of Derik Queen. His ability to contribute as a scorer, rebounder and playmaker has helped distinguish him from his peers, while his international experience with USA Basketball has caught the attention of NBA scouts. Continuing to develop against high-level competition will be important as his game matures.

Recruitment updates: Wabbington has official visits scheduled with Indiana (Sept. 3-5), Louisville (Sept. 11-13), Arizona (Sept. 25-27), Illinois(Oct. 23-25), North Carolina (Oct. 30-Nov. 1) and Texas (Nov. 6-8).

13. JJ Crawford, 2029 | SG | Uncommitted

2029 SC Next 25 ranking: 1

Crawford has earned the top sophomore class spot with a combination of production, efficiency and winning. He helped win a Washington 3A state title as a freshman, then averaged 16 points in Nike EYBL U16 play, shooting 52.7% from the field, 53.6% from 3 and 90% from the free throw line. He has consistently produced big scoring numbers efficiently while making timely decisions.

Recruitment updates: Crawford told ESPN his first offer came from Montanaas a seventh grader. The high majors are circling now, with UCLA, North Carolina, Arkansas, Duke, USC, Washington, Tennessee, Alabama and Kentucky all showing interest.

14. Reese Alston, 2027 | PG | Uncommitted

2027 SC Next 100 ranking: 10

Alston has established himself as one of the top point guards in the country with an ability to impact games as both a scorer and distributor. His poise and command have distinguished him at the position, and he consistently creates opportunities for himself and his teammates in both transition and the half court. Better shot selection will only enhance his overall profile in college.

Recruitment updates: Alston is looking at Tennessee, LSU, Wichita State, Louisville and Kentucky.

15. Nasir Anderson, 2027 | PG | Uncommitted

2027 SC Next 100 ranking: 11

Anderson missed the summer recovering from hip surgery, but remains one of the top point guards in the class. A summer earlier, he earned MVP honors after leading Team USA to gold at the FIBA U16 AmeriCup. His 41 assists set a competition record, and he averaged 6.8 per game. A tenacious left-hander, his competitiveness and defensive impact could help him rise once he's back at full health.

Recruitment updates: Anderson's top 10 list consists of Indiana, Providence,Syracuse, North Carolina, Florida, Kentucky, UConn, Tennessee, Virginia and Georgia.

16. Benjamin Berrouet, 2028 | PF | Uncommitted

2028 SC Next 60 ranking: 4

Berrouet reinforced his profile with an outstanding FIBA U16 EuroBasket run with Latvia, earning MVP honors while averaging a double-double and leading the tournament in scoring, rebounding and blocks. He also led his national team to its first medal in the event. Berrouet does most of his damage inside, and has also shown the ability to contribute as a passer and perimeter shooter.

Recruitment updates: Baylor, Texas, Houston, SMU, UCLA, Miami, Louisville, Cal and Michigan have made strong early impressions on Berrouet.

17. Draydne McDaniel, 2029 | SF | Uncommitted

2029 SC Next 25 ranking: 2

There aren't many sophomores built like the 6-7, 205-pound McDaniel, who consistently stands out with his production and contributes in multiple roles on both ends. With significant room to continue developing, don't be surprised if McDaniel climbs into the top 10 of the next edition of these regardless-of-class rankings.

Recruitment updates: Ole Miss, Indiana, Tennessee, Texas A&M, Florida State, Auburn and Alabama are high on McDaniel's list.

18. RJ Evans, 2029 | SF | Uncommitted

2029 SC Next 25 ranking: 3

Evans has reinforced his top-3 spot in the sophomore class after holding his own against older, stronger competition at Adidas Eurocamp in Italy in May. Evans' father, Reggie, was one of the best rebounders in Big Ten history at Iowa before carving out a 13-year NBA career. RJ has established his own identity as a perimeter player with significant long-term potential.

Recruitment updates: This early in his process, Evans is being recruited by Baylor, Ole Miss, Louisville, Kentucky,UCF, Georgia Tech, Florida State, Iowa State, NC State, Providence, Florida Atlanticand Sacramento State.

19. Erick Dampier Jr., 2028 | C | Uncommitted

2028 SC Next 60 ranking: 5

Dampier is one of just three players since 2019 to average at least 12 points, 12 rebounds and three blocks in an EYBL session, according to Cerebro Sports, joining No. 1 pick Cooper Flagg and 2027 SC Next 100 recruit Ahmad Hudson. He also hasn't shot below 48% at any event over the past year. He's a physical beast around the rim who could take another step by expanding his offensive game.

Recruitment updates: The son of former Mississippi State star and 16-year NBA veteran Erick Dampier has Florida State, Louisville, Mississippi State, Kentucky, Ole Miss, Alabama, USC and Arkansas in the mix.

20. NaVorro Bowman, 2-27 | PG | Uncommitted

2027 SC Next 100 ranking: 12

Bowman is the son of star San Francisco 49ers linebacker NaVorro Bowman Sr., and his toughness has certainly been passed down. A heady and mature player, the younger Bowman is only beginning to tap into his potential as a dynamic three-level scorer. He finished fourth in EYBL scoring with 20.9 points and was named the MVP of the adidas ABCD camp in August, where he scored an efficient 16 points in the championship game.

Recruitment updates: Bowman has visits set up with UConn (Sept. 4-6), Illinois (Sept. 10-12), Texas (Sept. 18-20) and Arizona (Sept. 25-27), and is in the process of setting up one with North Carolina.

21. King Gibson, 2027 | SG | Uncommitted

2027 SC Next 100 ranking: 13

Gibson has settled into his role as a scoring guard who can also be a defensive stopper. His positional size helps make him one of the better rebounding guards in the country, and his jump shot and shot selection have both taken significant strides. While Gibson shot a respectable 39% from deep during EYBL play, his efficiency fluctuated over four sessions. Finding more consistency is the next step.

22. Jordan Page, 2027 | SF | Uncommitted

2027 SC Next 100 ranking: 14

Page made the U17 USA basketball roster because of his competitiveness, coachability and versatility. At the FIBA U17 World Cup in Istanbul, his defensive impact stood out. Overall this summer, he shot 64% at the rim, per Synergy Sports, with his willingness to contribute without being tied to a specific position key to earning him a spot on this list. Improving his 3-point shot will help him move up it.

23. Mason Collins, 2028 | SF | Uncommitted

2028 SC Next 60 ranking: 6

The Delaware Gatorade Player of the Year has an offensive game and basketball IQ that project well to any college offensive system. He's a true jack-of-all-trades with a variety of paths to impacting games. That's a well-rounded foundation, and he could climb this list if his scoring takes another step.

Recruitment updates: Villanova, Florida State, Syracuse, Miami, Notre Dame, NC State and VCUare all on Collins' radar.

24. Moussa Kamissoko, 2027 | PF | Uncommitted

2027 SC Next 100 ranking: 15

Coaches love that Kamissoko impacts games without needing to score. His length and feel allow him to contribute as a playmaker and defender while also creating efficient scoring opportunities in transition. Finding a way to do more with his 6-11 wingspan defensively would vault him higher up the 2027 player rankings.

Jordan has all the tools. His combination of imposing physical gifts and production, especially finishing around the basket, have drawn the attention of professional evaluators. One described Jordan as a potential first-rounder or even lottery talent. More consistent effort and focus, particularly defensively, could help push the one-time top-5 recruit back up the list.
