Person with life-threatening injuries after Tenderloin dog attack; dog dead: SFPD
SAN FRANCISCO -- A person was attacked and seriously injured by a dog in San Francisco's Tenderloin neighborhood Tuesday morning.
The victim was attacked by a pit bull at about 9:20 a.m. in the 500 block of Larkin Street, according to San Francisco Police Chief Derrick Lew.
They were taken to a hospital to be treated for injuries a Police Department spokesperson described as life-threatening in a statement.
Lew said the dog died at some point after being transferred to the custody of San Francisco Animal Care and Control but could not confirm details as of Tuesday morning.
Lew said the dog was alive when police officers arrived at the scene.
The Police Department's statement said the dog was next to the victim when officers arrived and that officers separated the two before the animal was taken into custody.
