LIVE | President Trump hosts first responders, FDNY at White House in honor of 9/11 anniversary
WASHINGTON -- President Donald Trump is hosting first responders and officials from the FDNY at the White House on Tuesday.
It's in honor of the 25th anniversary of the Sept. 11 attacks. Surrounding the visit, a steel beam recovered from the South Tower of the World Trade Center will be featured at the White House Ellipse.
The beam is 12 feet and 16,900 pounds and will be brought to Washington D.C. by the Tunnel to Towers Foundation, an organization that has been touring with the beam across the U.S.
"President Trump will pay tribute to the American heroes we lost in the tragic September 11th attacks, their beautiful family members, and to the acts of heroism that defined that fateful day when the unbreakable spirit of the American people prevailed. The President will stand with first responders to renew our sacred vow that we will never forget - and that the United States of America will always defend our proud, free nation with unyielding resolve," White House Spokesperson Olivia Wales said in a statement.
