SAN FRANCISCO (KGO) -- Major League Baseball announced Friday that the 2028 All-Star Game will be held at Oracle Park in San Francisco.

The All-Star Game is scheduled to be played at Oracle Park on July 12, 2028.

The announcement comes as MLB seeks to have its players participate in the 2028 Summer Olympics in Los Angeles.

The 2028 game will mark the fourth time San Francisco has hosted the MLB All-Star Game.

Mayor Daniel Lurie celebrated the announcement, highlighting the city's sports history and its track record of hosting major events.

"San Francisco is the sports capital of the world. We gave the world Willie Mays, Willie McCovey, and Joe DiMaggio," Lurie said. "We've hosted the Super Bowl, the World Cup, and NBA All-Star Weekend. And major events like these are driving our comeback."
