SF sues over Trump's Truth Social early-access feature, calling it 'corruption plain and simple'

SAN FRANCISCO (KGO) -- San Francisco has filed a lawsuit challenging a new subscriber-only feature on Truth Social that provides early access to posts from high-ranking accounts.

The lawsuit centers on Truth Social's new tool, called "Truth API." The service lets people who pay up to $100,000 per month receive early access to posts from the platform's highest-ranking accounts.

City Attorney David Chiu argues the tool gives high-paying investors an unfair advantage and violates California's Unfair Competition Law.

"In today's markets, early access means millions of dollars. This business scheme has turned public trust into private property. This is corruption plain and simple," Chiu said.

The lawsuit was filed on behalf of Californians. It seeks to block the early access program, which went live Aug. 1, and to impose civil penalties.

The legal challenge contends that the early access program provides preferential access to information for paying subscribers and should be halted while the case proceeds.
