Snow makes surprise appearance in the Sierra

LAKE TAHOE, Calif. (KGO) -- There was a September surprise for anyone making the drive from Lake Tahoe to Reno on Tuesday.

The National Weather Service tweeted a photo of snow on the Mount Rose Highway.

The photo was taken at the 8,500-foot level.
