SAN JOSE, Calif. -- Crews in San Jose responded to a tier 1 vegetation fire that broke out at Calibunga Water Park in Lake Cunningham Park on Saturday.

A fire from a pickup truck crash spread to a water slide and a shed storing chemicals, firefighters said.

The fire, reported about 4:45 p.m., was contained to the northwest corner of the park as of 6 p.m., firefighters said on social media.

The storage shed was extensively damaged but no chemicals were released, according to the San Jose Fire Department.

Firefighters said the blaze began when a truck crashed into a fence and the flames spread to nearby vegetation. The San Jose Fire Department Arson Unit has been asked to investigate, officials said.

Video shared by the fire department showed one of CaliBunga's waterslides engulfed in flames.

The water park, formerly Raging Waters, on San Jose's east side has been temporarily closed for a redesign of Lake Cunningham Regional Park, city officials said in June.
