SAUK COUNTY, Wis. -- A small plane crash in Wisconsin left six people, including a child, dead Tuesday night.
The Sauk County Sheriff's Office responded at about 9:31 p.m. near the town of Dellona, where a Piper PA-46 crashed in a wooded area.
All six occupants of the plane were found dead at the scene, the sheriff's office said. Authorities have not released their identities.
The sheriff's office said the plan was on a return trip from Kenosha to Menomonie when it went down. The plane was in contact with a nearby air traffic controller tower.
The pilot of the plane reported icy conditions and requested to descent, according to preliminary information from the NTSB. The air traffic controller approved the request and the plane turned right, but communications and radar were lost as the plane was descending.
There were no reports of damage to structures on the ground or injuries on the ground.
The FAA and NTSB are investigating.
