The wife of a Rosharon man who was killed trying to sell property through Facebook Marketplace remembers him as a "great man."

ROSHARON, Texas -- The wife of a Texas man who investigators say was killed after attempting to sell property through Facebook Marketplace is urging others to be cautious when dealing with people they meet online.

Mayra Gonzalez spoke exclusively with ABC Houston affiliate KTRK after the death of her husband, Victor Gonzalez, a father of two whom she described as widely loved and deeply devoted to his family and friends.

"Everyone knew him. He had friends everywhere," Mayra Gonzalez said. "He was a great man."

17-year-old Anthony Castro is charged with capital murder in connection with Victor Gonzalez's death.

Investigators say Gonzalez was robbed at gunpoint while meeting Castro in the Aldine area last Sunday to sell property. Gonzalez then reportedly followed Castro's vehicle and even called 9-1-1 to give dispatchers directions.

At some point during the call, court documents say Gonzalez told dispatchers he'd been shot and no longer responded.

Officers spoke to someone who picked Castro up after the armed robbery. That person told officers Castro got out of the car and shot at Gonzalez's vehicle and that Castro said he "just hit a lick."

Court documents say surveillance video captured three gunshots during the confrontation.

Gonzalez and Mayra had two young kids that Mayra said loved their dad immensely.

"Losing the father of my kids has been the worst thing that ever happened in my life," she said. "They loved him so, so much."

She said the family's grief has also left her with a message for people using online marketplaces to buy and sell items.

"Take what happened to me and my family as a learning lesson for everyone," Gonzalez said. "That Facebook Market, I mean, don't trust people. Be careful."
