AccuWeather Forecast: Widespread pockets of drizzle overnight

Takeaway of the Day
The month of June got off to a very warm start today, just as we had forecast. As of 2:45 p.m., many inland communities already had temperature readings above 90 degrees, with the peak of afternoon warming still two hours away.

One note of caution as we enjoy the warmth: A Beach Hazards Statement is in effect through 5 a.m. tomorrow. Wave heights are elevated, and there is the risk of strong rip currents and sneaker waves. These are dangerous swimming and surfing conditions.

Going into the evening and overnight hours, we can expect the cooling marine layer to deepen and expand, bringing with it widespread pockets of drizzle -- mainly off shore, but some drizzle will likely move onshore in the early morning, possibly producing a few damp spots on our roadways during the morning commute.

A Look Ahead
Following today's summerlike warmth, we will experience a noticeable cooldown tomorrow. Skies will remain sunny, but high tempepratures will be generally 4 to 6 degrees lower than today's highs. However, the remainder of the week will bring a string of sunny days with high temperatures in the average range for early June. A cooler pattern will develop over the weekend.
