Tiffany Liou
Joining this newsroom is a true homecoming for Liou. Born and raised in Fremont, she attended middle and high school in San Jose before earning a business degree from Santa Clara University. After graduation, Liou worked at Salesforce and envisioned a career in tech, but it all changed when she signed up for an evening Live Television Broadcasting class at Ohlone College - just for fun. The class ignited a passion for journalism and an unexpected career change.
Liou's connection to ABC7 began as a college student when she interned in the station's marketing department. She later launched her journalism career in the Bay Area as an overnight assignment editor at KTVU.
Fifteen years later, in July 2026, she returned to the first television station she ever walked into, KGO-TV/ABC7, this time as a reporter.
As an award-winning journalist, Liou has reported in newsrooms across the country, spending nearly a decade telling stories at WFAA in Dallas-Fort Worth. She also worked at KWTV News 9 in Oklahoma City, KWQC in Davenport, Iowa, and KTVE/KARD in West Monroe, Louisiana.
Liou's work has earned her multiple EMMY, Murrow, NPPA, and Associated Press awards and more.
Throughout her career, Liou has covered some of the nation's most significant events, including the Uvalde and Allen mass shootings, Hurricane Harvey and the July 4 Hill Country floods. She traveled overseas to Haiti as a solo journalist, where she had the privilege of localizing an international story.
A longtime member of the Asian American Journalists Association, Liou served as president of AAJA's Texas chapter for eight years. In 2026, she was honored as AAJA's Member of the Year.
Liou is a lifelong learner and believes deeply in continued education. She organizes the National Press Photographers Association's Women in Visual Journalism Conference. She also serves on the faculty of NPPA's Advanced Storytelling Workshop, where she teaches and mentors aspiring and working journalists.
Above all, Liou is a wife, mother and dog mom. She loves the beach, hiking and photography. And she's a fan of all things Bay Area from food to sports. Go Dubs!!!

Foster City condo complex damaged by 6-alarm fire could collapse; had no fire sprinklers: officials
A day after a six-alarm fire heavily damaged a Foster City condominium complex, crews on Monday remain on Sea Spray Lane, putting out hotspots as they pop up. Officials say the building could collapse and revealed it did not have any fire sprinklers.
