Police said a 32-year-old suspect set his own house on fire with his family inside late Tuesday night. Authorities arrested him at the scene and charged him with arson and murder.

The suspect is said to be the son of the man who died in the fire and is also the uncle of the two children.

He was booked in the Richmond Police Department jail on two counts of murder and two counts of arson with great bodily injury.

A neighbor reacted to the tragedy, saying, "Look at this neighborhood, that's not okay."

Richmond police Lt. Joseph England said on Wednesday, "Someone has lost their child, someone has lost a family member, a five-year-old should not be dead, a two-year-old shod not be in critical condition."

Authorities also investigated a second, unrelated fire two doors away.

Officials said that fire is also considered suspicious. No one was injured, and a woman was arrested in connection with that incident.

The investigations into both fires are ongoing.
