Mistress of former 'American Idol' contestant charged in wife's murder takes stand

TROY, Ohio -- Caleb Flynn's mistress testified in his murder trial Wednesday in Ohio.

Alleigha Botner, 24, told the jury she didn't realize Flynn was married when she first met him in 2022.

She was an intern at the church where he volunteered on the worship team.

Botner said the relationship turned sexual in March of 2024.

She testified that Flynn told her he was going to get a divorce on Feb. 16: the day his wife, Ashley, was fatally shot in her bed.

Prosecutors say Flynn talked about ending his marriage, and the possibility of killing his wife in text messages to Botner.

Flynn has pleaded not guilty to murder.

He claims an intruder broke into the home and shot his wife.

Flynn was a contestant on "American Idol's" 12th season.
